I love this, Lee, partly bc I too am an avid tennis fan (and I loved Chris English’s story since he’s from my original hometown of Atlanta), but especially bc I believe that faith displayed in stories of suffering are fascinating.
Oh man, now you've got me going down a rabbit trail. His autobiography, Open, is amazing. He used J. R. Moehringer to write the book for him. Moehringer wrote one of my favorite memoirs (The Tender Bar). Such a great writer.

Have you ever watched Andre Agassi’s Hall of Fame speech? The way he relates tennis to real life is stunningly beautiful.
I have not, but someone else recently mentioned his autobiography to me. I’ll check out the speech and try to get to the autobiography soon.
