Front porches are open invitations. They are void of schedules. You don’t have to call or text first. If people are on their porches, they are fair game for a visit.
Sadly, we don't have a front porch. We have a back deck instead that we never use. Our intentions were a large back deck would motivate us to entertain more. Never happened.. Maybe that's part of the demise if the front porch.
Yeah, I wonder if decks in the backyard weren't part of our increasing desire for privacy. And by being so private, we've cut ourselves off from our neighbors.
I've been talking about having friends over to sit around the fire pit in my backyard. I need to make that happen, at least.
